Government-funded entitlements are based on 38 weeks per year.
Orchard End Nursery is open for 51 weeks of the year and offers parents the option of stretching their funded entitlement across the 51 weeks that we are open.
This means that rather than receiving 15 or 30 funded hours each week for 38 weeks, the annual entitlement is divided across 51 weeks.
A full 15-hour entitlement equates to approximately 11.17 funded hours per week over 51 weeks.
A full 30-hour entitlement equates to approximately 22.35 funded hours per week over 51 weeks.
Funded hours are subject to eligibility, availability and Orchard End Nursery’s admissions and funding arrangements. Parents can speak to us about their individual attendance pattern and allocation of funded hours.
Families accessing funded childcare can choose to purchase our Enhanced Education and Care Package, which provides additional services and consumables alongside their funded childcare hours.
Government-funded childcare hours are provided free of charge. Parents are not charged a registration fee or top-up fee in order to access their funded entitlement.
Government funding does not cover additional hours or optional extras such as meals, consumables and additional services.
Parents are not required to purchase additional hours, meals, consumables or additional services in order to access their funded entitlement. Where a parent chooses not to purchase an optional package or consumable, we will work with them to make reasonable alternative arrangements, which may include parents providing appropriate food or consumables themselves.
The Enhanced Education and Care Package is optional and is not a condition of accessing a funded childcare place. Parents who do not wish to purchase the package may opt out. Please speak to us so that appropriate alternative arrangements can be agreed where necessary.
Our Enhanced Package includes, but is not limited to:

Orchard End Nursery is registered with Leicestershire County Council to offer government-funded early education and childcare.
Depending on your child’s age and your family’s circumstances, your child may be entitled to funded childcare. This may include the universal entitlement for 3 and 4-year-olds, funded childcare for eligible working parents from 9 months until school age, and funded childcare for eligible 2-year-olds receiving additional forms of support.
Full details of the different funding schemes, including eligibility criteria, how to apply and when funding can begin, are available on the Leicestershire County Council website.
Eligible working parents may receive up to 1,140 funded childcare hours per year.
Parents must obtain a valid eligibility code and provide this to Orchard End Nursery before funding can be claimed. Parents are responsible for reconfirming their eligibility approximately every three months through their childcare account.
Further information about eligibility, applying and reconfirming can be found on the Leicestershire County Council funded childcare pages.
